NEWSLETTER 2-15-12

Hello Families and Friends!

HOMEWORK

IXL Homework includes: H.1, L.1, L.2, L.3, L.4

Alphabet Scientist Book: Each student will be paired for this project. Guidelines and expectations were discussed in class today. All Scientist were chosen. Please look on my website for further information about this project. Let me know if there are any questions.

QUILT
We are making a classroom quilt for this year’s classroom project for the Gala. The quilt will feature 100 patches of Arizona themed artwork hand-drawn by the students of 109. We have been working closely with Ms. Shirley each Friday afternoon, making our blocks for the quilt. Our next step is to sew the boarders around our individual blocks. Again, thank you for your support in this special project, especially to those that donated funds!

SCIENCE BASKET
We are putting together our Science Basket for the Silent Auction February 29th.  Thank you to those who have already donated funds or items for this basket. We will give you an updated list on everything included in the basket soon!

FIELD TRIPS
Don’t forget about the Arizona Science Center and the outreach programs! The price of the field trip combines two outreach programs from the Arizona Science Center and a field trip to the Arizona Science Center with two special features (the planetarium and a group activity/lesson on bones). The outreach programs will actually come to our school and then the field trip we will drive to. I will need chaperones for the field trip to Center on Wednesday, March 28th. It will be an all day event!

CHANGE TRUCK
Wednesday, February 29th we will host our Art Walk and Silent Auction in the gym. We will also have a change truck from one of the local banks come and collect change. Whatever change is collected by the school, the bank will match us coin for coin! You can send in change early or bring it during the event. Our school’s goal is to raise $1,000! Please help with these efforts! In the meantime, bring in your change to add to our classroom jar!

BIG NEWS!
Wednesday, February 29th: Art Walk and Silent Auction
Our classroom won first place for bringing in the most tax credit donations! Thank you to those who donated! We appreciate your support in keeping our school such a unique place!

Let me know if you have any questions!
