February 2017 Art Room Newsletter
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist
once he grows up.” –
Welcome to the Art
Room, FHCS Families!
I am excited in this New Year to continue to work with our students on their use of creativity while watching them continue to flourish in unimaginable ways!
I am happy to say we are still posting our art projects on Artsonia, but sadly we have so many students and family not being able to see their art displayed because of permission slips have not yet been accepted online. To explain the Artsonia in one sentence, it is the largest student art museum in the world. I can’t be more proud we are a part of it. It has been my dreams for some time to have every young artist in my classroom have their own online art gallery.
Your children’s gallery is completely private to them, until their parents’ choice to share it with family and friends. This also will allow you to preserve their masterpieces in digital for years to come. This will not only let us share the Artwork with friends and relatives far away, but Artsonia also offers us a wonderful way to earn funds for the art program here at FHCS. How this works is through purchasing customized keepsakes of your children’s Art. I am so happy to be able to be a part of this program, it is a true blessing to use and them.
Here in this month of February, we are learning The Art Element Form. Our students will be doing many different projects representing this Element, while expressing their pure creative edge. I am so pleased to be working with so many talented children here at Fountain Hill Charter School. I feel this school truly cares about the growth and education of our future leaders of America.
I am so pleased to be a here to help mold and shape the minds of so many Artistic Students. So we here in art the department will be working with Scholastic Art Magazine to better educate our students about art history and the great artists of all times. These Artist have paved the way for so many of us today, through the use of graphic design, painting and illustration. I believe you can’t know where you going, until you know where you came from. So learning about our past artist will continue to inspirer our children to become the best that they can be.
I am happy to say here in the next couple months, I look forward to working with your children. I will continue to inspire them and guiding them through their own expression of ART and the way they see it. I am always impressed and amazed to see how the children grow, change, by what they create over the course of the school year. How the 2nd thru -8th grade classes do this is by keeping a portfolio to help them be able to look back on as a guide or as a visual memory. I will soon be needing clear plastic page protectors for them to place all their projects in their portfolio. If you can send some with your student that would be greatly appreciate it. I hope all my parents know they are always welcome in the art room, while their children make their masterpieces in 2017. If you have any question or concerns please feel free to call or email.
